Caroline Sohie | Concrete Dreams (2024)
On the shifting urban edge, concrete structures rise with accelerating force: markers of speculation and signs of futures imagined. The planned container port draws investors from far beyond Bagamoyo, fuelling a wave of urbanisation and a vision of projected prosperity.
The unfinished frameworks reveal a profound shift in how people live, shaped by imported styles and aspirations formed outside local memory; as rooms are reconfigured, so too evolves the choreography of family life and its relationship to place.
