Portfolio Review
Sit down with Dylan Culhane, Ultraviolet's director and curator, for a focused one-on-one look at your work - whether that's a small selection, a body of work, or your full portfolio.
Expect considered attention, honest feedback, questions that open up new angles, and connections you might not have spotted in your own work. It's also a chance to think out loud about your practice: to verbalise and concretise loose ideas, and sharpen how you present your work going forward.
Prints are preferred (small digital prints or test prints are fine too), so we can slow down and look closely together at your work as something with physical presence in the world. Naturally this won't be possible with remote consultations - here I'd suggest looking at your work on a collaborative visual white-board app, like Apple Freeform, Miro, Mural, or similar.
This isn't a fast track to exhibiting at Ultraviolet. It's an opportunity to develop your work and process, and to hear some potentially illuminating feedback from a gallery curator's perspective.
Sessions
30 minutes for an overview, first impressions, and suggestions for moving forward. A great way to step outside your echo chamber and have your work seen from fresh eyes, discover strengths or blind spots you might not be aware of, sense check a particular direction in your work, or begin giving shape to a new project.
1 hour for a more detailed session with constructive critique, questions, discussion, and suggestions for moving forward. All the same value as described above, but the added time invariably lets you explore further, and walk away with more to consider.
2 hours for even more discussion and idea development. With more time to dig in, it's great for sharpening up and focusing a sprawling body of work, segmenting distinct bodies of work from a broad portfolio, grappling with a particular challenge you might be encountering with on a project, or positioning yourself and your work most effectively for your desired outcome.
